An unshakeable faith can keep you standing firmly on the unsinkable Rock, despite the storms beating around you like a turbulent sea.

The Apostle Peter was a very run-of-the-mill kind of person, a hard-working fisherman, very passionate and overly headstrong, famed for being 'impetuous, impulsive and overeager.'

Jesus singled him out for a most extraordinary mission. Simon, the faltering fisherman, was transformed into Peter the Rock, to lead Christ's Church strongly in the fiery face of persecution.

The greatest triumph of Peter's life was the fact that although, when Christ was betrayed, Peter fearfully denied knowing Him, thirty years later, Peter fearlessly died for his faith in Christ. This was his vindication.

What brought about such an awesome change of heart? God inculcated eight 'faith traits' in Peter to produce an unshakeable faith, guaranteed to weather every single storm in Peter's life.

These eight spiritual factors will give you an 'obedient, dependent and trusting relationship with your Savior,' to depend and rely upon when trials strive to unsettle you.

Life is full of the most extraordinary trials and difficulties. The only firm foundation for you to stand on is a rock-solid faith in God that is not easily moved. Peter's remarkable life reveals that God can transform a fragile, faltering faith into a strong, unshakeable faith.

Trait One reveals that you are secure in the love of God who chose you to be His very own.

In Luke 5:1-11, Jesus saw Peter and his friends washing their nets and getting ready to go home after fishing all night to no avail. Yet, Jesus told Peter 'to take the boat back out into the water and put the freshly-cleaned nets down for a catch.' Peter stared at Jesus in disbelief but obeyed Him at once. There instantly occurred an incredible miracle right in front of their eyes. 'The catch was so large they had to call for another boat.'

Two other miracles also occurred simultaneously in Peter's heart. Peter's perception of Jesus changed in the twinkling of an eye. He saw His Master in a new light. Peter's perception of himself also changed radically. As he perceived Christ's awesome power and authority, he also became acutely aware of his own wretchedness. A deep sense of sin overwhelmed him. 'Now Peter was ready to follow Jesus.'

© Miriam Jacob

FINDING TRUE FREEDOM IN CHRIST

"Finding True Freedom From the White House to the World" is an outstanding memoir of Harry S. Dent by his devoted daughter, Ginny Dent Brant.

Harry S. Dent was a most inspiring leader, a powerful political heavyweight, a hard-driving activist and a trailblazing pioneer, but his greatest and most profound impact was as a humble and dedicated servant who led countless people to Christ.

Harry loved God and here lies his true greatness. His passion for truth won him the greatest victory in his life. He was a courageous man who did not flinch in the face of adversity. Harry passionately stood for freedom and staunchly defended it. Freedom is a striking paradox. It involves answering God's call for our lives. Harry responded to God's call and he found life in all its fullness.

As Ginny describes it vividly, Harry's "passionate love glows incandescently - for America, then for God." After the darkness of Watergate drew a veil over a distressing chapter of Harry's political life, another whole lifetime began for him. It was a new day and a new time in which Harry's own Watergate experience prompted him to begin an eternal and never-ending quest for the ultimate truth.

Harry S. Dent was a visionary, quick to view a good cause as an opportunity to do what was right. He was a good person at heart, a man of courage and integrity. As Ginny says, "God had my father's heart in His hands, and He was changing him day by day." In February 1978, Harry Dent, aged forty-eight, finally gave his heart and life to God. It is not surprising to know that his greatest days were still ahead, waiting to see the light of dawn in the wings of time.

When Harry Dent invited Christ into his life, the change in him was real and lasting. He became aware of what freedom truly is. He was powered and propelled by a passionate love for God and for people, which eventually led to the birth of his ministry called "Laity Alive and Serving", whose motto was "The Purpose of Life is to serve God." It was a channel for Harry to exhort people to live wholeheartedly for Christ.

For Ginny, supporting her dad in his ministry was one of the greatest joys of her life. It was something she did for about fifteen years. She writes, "We were the father-daughter duo, and God's intervention in our lives made for a powerful story."

When Harry Dent eventually left politics in 1981, he sensed that God had chosen him for a special call and divine purpose. He decided to follow God's agenda and God's plan for his life. Harry's testimony states, "I am free in Christ." Ginny adds that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. "And only in Him can we find true freedom." "Freedom from bondage to sin is a precious gift indeed." Harry was striving "to know Him and make Him known."

Confronting life's key question, "What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?", Ginny reveals the awesome secret of how to confront death itself. Writing about a friend whose gteatest fear was facing death, Ginny narrates how he learnt to face death with grace, kneeling at the foot of the cross of Calvary.

Harry and his wife, Betty knew with all their heart that they must first connect to God in order to be successful in carrying out His plan for their lives. They learnt to depend on God each moment of every day. They knew that safety was being right in the middle of God's will, where there is divine peace and security. They refused to fit into a certain pattern, having discovered that they were unique, one-of-a-kind people, who loved God with their whole heart and soul.

Ginny Dent Brant has written a soul-stirring story of her father's life, filled with some of the most inspiring spiritual insights and thoughtful reflections of God's divine love and grace towards her family. As they passed through the long dark tunnel of their father's illness together, not one of them has forgotten what God did for their father. They saw God's Hand in their family, and they were grateful.

Harry Dent and his devoted family found their true freedom in Christ, stepping out confidently from the White House to the world. Ginny discovered that "freedom is a tremendous gift - and freedom in Christ is the best kind of freedom one can acquire." It plumbs the deep-rooted depths of the Amish faith and explores the most intimate struggles of the human heart in relation to its faith.

When Adam, Emma's first love, goes away in search of better pastures, Emma is heartbroken. Later when Adam finally returns, Emma is determined to keep her heart and emotions under firm control, as she struggled to cope with the thorn of grief that pierced her heart. First her father's death and then, her mother's. It almost seemed too much to bear.

Left bereft and confused, Emma fought to control her rapidly changing emotions. She built a thick, emotional wall protectively around her, for her own safekeeping. All she wanted was to be left alone as she struggled to come to terms with her incessant grief. With both her parents gone, Emma was forced to face a bleak future. Poignant memories left her helpless and defenceless. An emptiness gnawed pitifully at her heart.

Emma didn't have anything of value left in her solitary life. There was absolutely nothing at all. Her life, once so full of hope and faith, had been shattered into the bare core of an empty shell. Would she ever feel whole again? Emma longed for her life to be restored to the way it was when her parents were alive and well. Those were the days of peace and serenity when life was tranquil, and there were no cares at all. Would the good old days ever come back again?

There was only one person in the world whom she wished to see. Only his kind-hearted words could soothe her broken heart and assuage her grief. But he had walked out of her life two years ago, and she had absolutely no hope that he would ever walk back in again. If Adam and Emma were ever to be together, God would have to make that happen in His own time and way.

An invisible aura of dejection hung over Emma. This certainly was not the brave and courageous Emma everyone knew. She had a dare-devil reputation for never refusing a challenge, and she adamantly refused to accept difficult circumstances without attempting to change them for the better. Emma's heart ached pitifully. She knew that she should be taking her worries to God. But on second thoughts, why should she even bother when apparently God had taken so much from her? Strange thoughts plagued Emma's mind and gave her no respite.

Emma knew deep down in her heart that God loved her and wanted the very best for her life. She had lost everything that was dear to her heart. And it suddenly occurred to her that now she would be expected to be thankful to God because of it. She was immersed in sadness and grief. Time stood still for her, the one thing that had not been taken from her. She was hurt, shattered and grieving. She clung to the memories she had left. Like her grandmother, Emma had lost the ones she loved most in her life. Yet her grandmother could thank God in her deepest sorrow and celebrate His mercy in her grief. Emma struggled to emulate her good example.

Of all the people Emma knew, Adam was the only one who could understand her. His words cut through her pain to reach into her heart and give her much-needed comfort and solace. He himself had no idea how easily he could do it. A kind look, a friendly touch, a smile often worked wonders in Emma's aching heart. Memories of their relationship came flooding back, driving an arrow of pain into Adam's heart. Time had not healed the wound. Adam would have to find his own answers, in his own way.

"There's only one thing I am sure of," said Emma. The expression of misery in her eyes nearly broke Adam's heart. "I'm not in control of what happens in my life. I don't have a choice."
"It's about you having choices," clarified Adam. "About you knowing who is in control of your life."
"You will never be alone. You will always have God."

"God will provide." Emma did not know how. It certainly was not her place to know. It was definitely her place to hold on to her faith and accept the circumstances in her life as bravely as she could. She struggled to control her tears. At one time, she would have been sorely tempted to refuse the help people offered out of their compassion and generosity. Her innate pride would have kept her entangled in a bitter snare. Not anymore. This was the wonderful way in which God provided. Through people who loved God and who cared enough to give of themselves wholeheartedly. Emma would accept the help they offered so selflessly, and fervently hope that at some stage of her own life, she would be able to offer the same compassion and help to someone else in need.

Emma was a brave and courageous woman who knew her own heart and mind. It had taken her a while to get there, but she knew the truth now. "God never breaks His promises. He is true to us, and requires that we be true to Him and to one another." A total transformation. This was certainly what it was all about. To be able to connect with God, family and community. To find peace, contentment and love in God's will. Nothing else was important. In joy and sorrow, today and tomorrow, the Lord was present, and He made all the difference.

Adam finally made an important discovery. "I finally know what's important. What's real. What I've been searching for. Without family, I'm empty. Without God, I'm nothing. Without love, I can't survive."

© Miriam Jacob

To comply with new regulations introduced by the Federal Trade Commission, I would like to mention that, as part of every Web or retail site review, BOOKSNEEZE has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book from THOMAS NELSON PUBLISHERS

Disclosure of Material Connection:

I received this book free from THOMAS NELSON PUBLISHERS through BOOKSNEEZE book review bloggers program. God has promised to bless His Word." Billy Graham prayed that "his words would reflect God's standard of truth" and that lost souls will "be drawn by the Holy Spirit to the foot of the Cross, where forgiveness is found and salvation through grace is granted."

© Miriam Jacob

BARNES & NOBLE

To comply with new regulations introduced by the Federal Trade Commission, I would like to mention that, as part of every Web or retail site review, BOOKSNEEZE has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book from THOMAS NELSON PUBLISHERS

Disclosure of Material Connection:

I received this book free from THOMAS NELSON PUBLISHERS through BOOKSNEEZE book review bloggers program. How did you become a writer?

While I've always enjoyed writing, I've never thought much about making it a career. Spending the last 14 years in radio however, I have gotten to do a lot of writing. I frequently script copy for our website, email newsletter, on-air newscasts, and produced promos. Several years ago I began blogging as well, mostly as a natural outgrowth of the topics we discussed on my morning show. Within a few months, I realized that I had a potential book idea, and it wasn't long before the search was on for an agent and publisher.

2. What do you enjoy most about writing?

I love communicating an idea creatively and (hopefully) effectively. That's what we try to do every day on the radio, and writing allows me to expand many of these ideas even further. My mom always said that she thought I was going to be a lawyer, and I definitely think there is a part of me that enjoys researching a topic, organizing my thoughts, and then making a clear, concise case for my position.

3. What prompted you to write "Branded: Sharing Jesus with a Consumer Culture?"

A conversation with an old friend (who turned out to be an agnostic) was what really prompted the idea. I learned a lot from him about what our current culture thinks of Christians and why. He challenged me to think through what I believe and why I believe it. But, ultimately, our discussions revealed how poorly Christians (as a whole) have done at truly reflecting who Jesus is. Branded became a challenge to Christians to reflect who Jesus truly is, rather than who many of us have made him out to be.

4. How would you describe your book and your style of writing?

My style is direct and brief, with a slightly humorous edge every now and then. Branded reads more like a series of blog posts than a long-form book, but I wrote it that way intentionally. Personally, I don't have the time or attention span to spend 15 hours poring over a book...so I wrote Branded for people like me.

5. What are the main things you hope to accomplish through your book?

I hope to both challenge and encourage Christians who have found themselves either in a spiritual rut or in a position where they are embarrassed at how Christians are perceived. The way evangelism is and the way evangelism is supposed to be are not the same thing...and I hope Branded gives readers permission to do what God calls them to, not what the American church often tells them to.

6. How does your relationship with God play into your writing?

It's everything. I write based on what God is teaching me at the time. Do I have all the answers? Absolutely not. However, writing helps me think through situations...and hopefully helps others think through them as well. Honestly, the discussion that comes from my blogs and books can be just as helpful as the actual words themselves.

7. How has your job as a radio personality on a popular Christian Radio station prepared you to write this book?

I have the opportunity to talk to (and with) nearly a quarter of a million people every week on our radio show, so that gives me a pretty good handle on our culture (especially the Christian culture). My regular interactions with other radio stations and businesses who want to better market themselves gives me a pretty good handle on marketing. Put those two things together and, voila, you get Branded.

BRANDED: SHARING JESUS WITH A CONSUMER CULTURE by Tim Sinclair

How do we share Jesus with a consumer culture? In "Branded: Sharing Jesus with a Consumer Culture," Tim Sinclair boldly declares that sharing Jesus has absolutely nothing to do with mass-marketing and everything to do with being personally branded by Christ, permanently marked by our Saviour. BRANDED is a clarion call to turn the Christian hourglass over, to make drastic changes in order to see new progress. It is all about branding Jesus and becoming branded by Him ourselves.

Tim Sinclair specifies that when it comes to sharing Jesus with the world around us, it is crucial that we acknowledge our own unique talents and abilities and use them effectively to reach out to people within our own circle and sphere of influence. As Tim states so clearly, there is no "one-size-fits-all" methodology. How do people see you? When they look at you, what do they see? Do they see love? When love is authentically lived out in a person's life, it stands out brightly in today's world. Do they see you as a lover of Jesus who cannot help but share Him? Do you speak about your love for Christ to the world?

As a Christian, you inadvertently advertise Jesus wherever you go. Tell your story with your own particular flair and style, boldly, confidently, as open and honestly as you can. Show the world how Jesus can make a striking and significant difference in your daily life. The story of your walk with Christ is your most powerful tool. Be a bright and shining example of the extraordinary power of Christ to transform a person's life and make it totally new! Make those around you want to believe! Your own life is your greatest testimony! Remember the words of St. Francis of Assisi: "Preach the gospel at all times - if necessary use words."

Tim Sinclair, a top-flight communicator in today's hi-tech, consumer-oriented world, exhorts Christians to promptly sign on for a world-class marketing campaign for the Saviour and to share their faith honestly in authentic ways for God's glory.

© MIRIAM JACOB

FTC Regulations Compliance

To comply with new regulations introduced by the Federal Trade Commission, I would like to mention that, as part of every Web or retail site review, LITFUSE PUBLICITY GROUP has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book from KREGEL PUBLICATIONS.

Disclosure of Material Connection:

I received this book free from KREGEL PUBLICATIONS through LITFUSE PUBLICITY GROUP book review bloggers program. At the young age of fifteen, this can be extremely daunting for a teenager and can inflict huge psychological damage.

In "How Huge the Night," Heather and Lydia Munn portray the unseen and unsung heroes of World War 2, as they grapple with hunger, racism and war, in a world not of their own making, struggling to come to terms with heart-searching questions about the goodness of God in the midst of conflicting ethnic tensions in communities torn apart by war.

The devastating horrors of war, the selfless heroism of adolescents triumphing in the face of overwhelming adversity and the significant choices they made are vividly portrayed as the authors deftly weave together the lives of ordinary people who promptly chose to focus their immediate attention on those in dire danger and protect them safely from harm. This historical novel, a most inspiring and compelling coming-of-age drama, will inspire people to reflect thoughtfully on the choices they make each day and the cost they have to pay to make those choices.

© Miriam Jacob

_____________________________

INTERVIEW WITH HEATHER & LYDIA MUNN
______________________________

How did you become a writer?

Lydia: I have always loved stories and literature. As a child, I devoured books, and as a college student, I chose literature as a major. But it was only gradually, as an adult, that I began to think about creating my own stories, instead of reading what others had created.

Heather: I decided I wanted to be a writer when I was five or six years old, when my Mom read me the Little House on the Prairie books and somehow it struck me as really cool that you could tell all about your childhood like that. Which is ironic, because I don't plan on ever writing a memoir... Well, then I wrote my first poem when I was nine, and kept on writing poetry & stories & the beginnings (never the endings!) of novels as I grew up... I don't remember exactly when I figured out that this made sense for me, this was what I was supposed to do, but by the time I was in high school I was pretty sure.

What do you enjoy most about writing?

Heather: The sentences. OK, that sounds really funny, but I mean it. There's still a lot of poet in me, and when a really beautiful phrase or sentence comes to me it really gives me joy. Something else I shouldn't leave out, though, is character voice. Sometimes a character starts talking to me. I recently wrote a short story showing the Resurrection from the point of view of an obscure, unnamed disciple. It was like the man was real, in my head, just telling me his story. And I loved him. I don't even know his name, and he's my favorite of all characters, even above any of the people in this book.

Lydia: I enjoy creating characters, ones that I care about, and seeing them develop through the situations they go through. I enjoy the process of creating the story itself, watching the tension mount, then relax a bit, then mount again to the climax, using foreshadowing to whet the appetite for what's ahead. I also enjoy crafting strong sentences, using words that have an impact, though I am not the poet that Heather is.

What prompted you to write “How Huge the Night?”

Heather: My mom asked me to! It was her book—she'd re-written it several times and it was not getting accepted for publication—and then she asked me if I would write my own revision of it. I wanted to be writing and didn't feel ready for the only novel idea I had just then, plus I loved my mom and this was her dream, so I said yes.
Lydia: I had lived in France for five or six years before I first heard about the events in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon on which this novel is based. The story made such an impression on me that I wanted to retell it, especially to the English speaking world, where it is not widely known. One thing that moved me was the quiet heroism of very ordinary people, who later seemed surprised that others thought they had done something special. "These people needed help," they said. "We only did what had to be done."

How would you describe your book and your style of writing?

Heather: I write for people who are interested in choices, in how people change, in the inner drama of somebody's soul. Also for people who love language and like to see a writer use it as well as she can. And I write for people who are willing to go through some real darkness, in a book (and maybe in life too) to get to the light on the other side.

Lydia: Because I love books where you learn to care deeply about the characters, that is the kind of book I try to write. Some people are surprised that a book set in wartime has so much of ordinary life in it. But it allows them to really get to know the characters and see the tensions within them that will be played out under the pressures that war and invasion will inevitably bring.

Why did you choose “How Huge the Night” as your title?

Heather: The truth is, I didn't. My mom titled it The Refuge, I re-titled it The Shadow's Edge. How Huge the Night was the title proposed by a committee at Kregel. But as soon as I laid eyes on it I was in love. It's perfect. It's a phrase from the book, from one of my favorite chapters, and it comes at a moment when the teenage character is awakening to how big and scary the world is. I think that's why it fits so well; because in a lot of ways that's what the book's about.

What are the main things you hope to accomplish through your book?

Heather: First of all I hope to give people an enjoyable, quality book to read. Also to make the true story behind the book more well-known, and to teach people about a part of history most Americans don't really get taught in school—I don't mean WWII of course, but the French perspective on it, and especially Vichy France. And there are a lot of different themes and issues in the book I'd like to provoke people into thinking about; too many to mention, really. One that was really important to me: one character deals with a lot of fear as a girl who's practically alone in a world at war... it's the fear all young women have to deal with, but more. I hope to maybe give a few girls a little help in dealing with it, and boys a little bit of understanding.

Lydia: I would love for American readers to come away with a different perspective on France than what they get, either from the media, or from tourism. I'd love for them to know that France has people like Grandpa, rooted in the soil, with wisdom that speaks to us, and values that we admire. I also hope that people will get a certain vision of God through the book. In war time, or any time of great suffering, we naturally question God. Where is he? Why couldn't he stop all this? From the opening pages of the book, the answer comes through that God is not going to stop this war. Julien and his family will have to live through it. But I hope we learn with Julien that God's presence, in the midst of suffering and doubt, makes all the difference.

How does your relationship with God play into your writing?

Heather: I'm not sure how to explain it. When I write really well, I feel connected to God, and grateful for being given what I'm writing. My most fundamental writing principle is “tell the truth”--meaning the truth about human experience (since that's what fiction is meant to represent), about the parts of life where God seems absent as well as the moments when his presence is clear. Also, I do a fair amount of writing directly from the Bible—re-tellings, mostly written to be read aloud in church services (which, incidentally, are available for free at www.secretplaceofthunder.blogspot.com)—and there is absolutely nothing in my life that gets me deeper into the Bible than doing that. It's like I'm there. When I write one of those it feels like worship—experiencing God with intensity.

Lydia: I have always loved the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. Many people know that he would write the words "For the glory of God" at the top of the music he had just composed. I would love for that to be written at the top of my manuscript, as well. Though I know my motives are mixed (whose aren't?), yet I hope my writing communicates a true vision of God, as well as a true vision of human beings.

What influence has living in France had on the writing of this book?

Lydia: It was much easier to write about France after having lived in the country for several years. I think my love of French people, the countryside, the food – all that comes across in my writing. Even the French reserve toward outsiders is something I've come to understand over time. We moved to a small town when Heather was in junior high, and she found that almost all the kids in her school had been together since kindergarten. On our street we met neighbors who had lived in the same house for fifty years. How Huge the Night reflects that experience of being outsiders, needing time to find our place.

Heather: A whole lot of influence. I was so glad to be able to put many of my good (and a few bad) memories of France into this book. From the stone walls and the hills and the weather-beaten farmers to the double desks with inkwells in them and the mean teacher everyone loves to hate... a lot of my childhood's in there. Even how the people interact. It's subtle, but there is French culture surrounding everything. A school friend drops in and Julien immediately serves him something to drink. That's what a French kid would do, you're supposed to, you have to. Little things like that.

How much research was involved in writing about historical events? How did you know how much historical detail to provide?

Heather: I was pretty lucky. Mom did an incredible amount of research. I did do some of my own when I had a question she couldn't answer or just wanted to get the feel of something—but for almost everything I could just ask her. As for what to include, the principle is: if the character cares, the reader cares, and that makes it interesting. So stuff that affects the characters' lives is mostly what we included—and that added up to quite a bit.

Lydia: When I first became interested in retelling the story of Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, I not only read everything I could find on the town itself, but I also read a lot about World War II, especially related to what happened in France during the war. I made time lines to make sure that historical events really happened at the time we said they did (such as Hitler's meeting with Marshall Pétain). By looking at what was happening in the wider world, we would ask ourselves the question, how does this event impact the characters in this story? When we get to Pearl Harbor, for instance (which should happen in the next book), when will Julien's family hear about it? Will they see it as a turning point in the war, or will it be a minor news story of another of so many battles being lost at the time?

Do you have plans to develop these characters or this story?

Heather: Mom and I are working on a sequel, which actually follows Julien's younger sister, Magali, through the next year or so of the war. She becomes an assistant to a young woman who is transporting kids to safety.

Lydia: In the true story behind the novel, Le Chambon-sur-Lignon developed homes for children who were being released from detention camps in the south of France. In my background reading about the war, I came across the stories of young women who spent their lives moving Jewish children to safety. Another group of unsung heroes! Because Pâquerette, one of these young women, is so important in the sequel, it was natural for the story to be told through the eyes of Magali, instead of Julien. The second book will see Magali's coming of age as much as How Huge the Night was Julien's story. She will grow, make mistakes, and change as she travels to the camps with Pâquerette. But this continues to be more than just the story of one young person. It is also the story of a family, and of a town, of Mama, and Pastor Alex, who all have to respond to the events that happen.

What is the story behind the story?

It's the story of a small town in central France called Le Chambon-sur-Lignon, which became a haven for Jews during World War II. Basically the whole town was in agreement about sheltering them—which was beyond unusual. Because of this, as a town of around 3,000 people, over the course of the war they sheltered and saved between 3,000 and 5,000 refugees. You can visit our website at www.howhugethenight.com to learn more.

What do you hope readers take away from reading How Huge is the Night?

Heather: A lot of things. One is the fact that small choices matter—everyday choices, that have no life-or-death results attached, like how to treat that guy you just can't stand. In the book, Julien is in those sorts of everyday situations... and when the life-or-death situation comes, the choices he's made previously are tremendously important, for good and ill, because they've shaped both who he is and how others respond to him. To me, the fact that it can be that way is proof that even if Hitler isn't around these days to present us with more obviously crucial decisions, those everyday choices matter tremendously.

Lydia: I too see the idea of choice as being central to the book. Many people in France chose to go along with Nazi propaganda with tragic results, both for the Jews, and for the collaborators themselves. It was not easy to make the right choices. Issues were blurred (all these refugees are ruining our country!), and costs of helping them were high. But some in France did choose rightly, and they help us to see that it is possible to do so. I hope readers will also see that choosing wrongly is not necessarily the end of the story. Julien makes some bad mistakes. But because he learns to admit his mistakes and seek forgiveness, he also finds God's help to start over.

HEATHER MUNN has a B.A. in Literature from Wheaton College. When she was young, her favorite time of day was after supper when the family would gather and her father would read a chapter from a novel. Heather went to French school until her teens, and grew up hearing the story of Le Chambonsur-Lignon, only an hour’s drive away. She now lives in rural Illinois with her husband, Paul, where they offer free spiritual retreats to people coming out of homelessness and addiction. She enjoys wandering in the woods, gardening, writing, and splitting wood.

LYDIA MUNN received a B.A. in literature from Wheaton College, and an M.A. in Bible from Columbia Graduate School of Bible and Lydia Missions. There was no public library either, but Lydia read every book she could get her hands on. This led naturally to her choice of an English major at Wheaton College. Her original plan to teach high school English gradually transitioned into a lifelong love of teaching the Bible to both adults and young people as a missionary in France. She and her husband, Jim, have two children: their son, Robin, and their daughter, Heather. With her husband, Jim, she has worked in church planting and Bible teaching since 1983, notably in St. Etienne, near the small town in the central mountains of France which forms the background of How Huge the Night. Cunningham

Christians are warriors in constant warfare who are called to persevere in spite of what comes their way. Here is a valuable lesson to be tackled head-on, at first hand. The best of all champions know beyond the shadow of a doubt that true Christians are winners who never quit. They are called to run the race of life and to run, fully expecting to win the prize. In Jungle Warfare, Christopher Cunningham reveals how to fight and win the battle of faith in the jungle of life with God's Word as our field manual.

Christians battle a deadly spiritual enemy who schemes, plots and prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom to devour. They are called to fight on a physical and spiritual front simultaneously, on the most challenging terrain.Christians fight with Jesus Christ as their Commander-in-Chief. They are perfectly confident in the knowledge that He has already won the battles they will face.

Christians feel the presence of God's Holy Spirit as He leads them through the jungle of life in the presence of their enemies. Christians are called to muster up the courage and strength to face the hardest of times and still retain their basic integrity, sense of duty and love of freedom in the basic principles of the Christian faith. Christians will possess a peace that passes all understanding and navigate through the jungles of life with the One who knows the way.

Every Christian is a soldier. Christian soldiers are prayer warriors and members of a team of believers worldwide. They serve the people of the world and live out the Christian values. They always place their calling first, don't accept defeat and never quit. They are Good Samaritans, well-trained and disciplined, mentally and physically tough, proficient in any warrior tasks they might have to face.

God enabled Christopher Cunningham to recapture his passion for Him and for His life's work. God lit a flame inside him that inspired him to thttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifrain others, to humble himself and to know that God is in complete control. Christopher Cunningham writes that "God's love is a wonderful, unyielding, unwavering, unconditional, unselfish, and uncanny love called 'agape,' best characterized by its unconditional and sacrificial nature." In the jungle of life, God's unconditional love is our compass. When all else fails, love wins!

&copy Miriam Jacob

http://my.barnesandnoble.com/communityportal/review.aspx?reviewid=1691545

FTC Regulations Compliance

To comply with new regulations introduced by the Federal Trade Commission, I would like to mention that, as part of every Web or retail site review, Booksneeze has provided me with a complimentary copy of this book.

Disclosure of Material Connection:

I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze.com http://BookSneeze.com book review bloggers program. Julia DeSmit discovers the true meaning of her life when she confronts the unforgiving past to reconcile it with her "come-to-terms-with-it" present and assimilate it into a bright and hopeful future. A series of unresolved relationships are skillfully addressed and the deft interplay of thought coupled with action and dialogue is truly memorable as Julia wonders if God really has a part to play in her young life. This is a beautiful story of redemption, worth its weight in gold. Julia's shining faith and ultimate dependence on God is clearly outlined as the foundation for a brilliant narrative in which God's grace reigns in abundance and Julia finds her true self and God's blessings in the midst of a sea of uncertainty.

© Miriam Jacob

FTC Blogger Guidelines:

To comply with new regulations introduced by the Federal Trade Commission, I would like to mention as part of every Web or retail site review that Tyndale House Publishers has provided me with a complimentary electronic copy of this book.

OUTLIVE YOUR LIFE by MAX LUCADO

Outlive Your Life - You Were Made to Make a Difference

                   By Max Lucado
Published by Thomas Nelson

http://www.maxlucado.com/

Here is a road map and a blueprint for your life, to inspire you to be all that God intends you to be. "Outlive Your Life" by Max Lucado will change your life and help you to influence the world. It will expand your world vision and enable you to chart your course through life. Max Lucado writes with rare candour and grace, simple beauty and a vivid imagination, presenting the gracious gift of compassion to the world in a lucid, literary style, coupled with another priceless gift - the clarion call to compassion, a call that is so strikingly clear, so outrageously true that you will know beyond the shadow of a doubt that it emanates from the very heart of God. This is a refreshing and inspirational wake-up call, a battle cry and a passionate call to arms, to put our faith into action, with a real sense of mission, to reach out to those in desperate need.

With his customary blend of the most lofty lyricism and the most simple, down-to-earth insight, Max Lucado artfully weaves together an exquisite tapestry of stories of hope with amazing dexterity, real-life accounts that skillfully portray the most ordinary people, each one designed to make a difference, who are used by God in extraordinary ways, to reveal God's love to the people and nations of the world.

Max Lucado effectively conceals and disguises his genius with success. He tackles the most profound truth and makes it understandable by simple people like you and me. And then, the inevitable miracle happens. This life-transforming truth ultimately changes your heart, and eventually through you, reaches out to bless the lives of people everywhere. Max Lucado issues a soul-stirring call to authentic Christianity, for a resurgence of compassion and service. He teaches us how to live compassionately in a hurting world.

© MIRIAM JACOB

http://my.barnesandnoble.com/communityportal/review.aspx?reviewid=1478113

http://ugc.christianbook.com/profiles/2016/5685176/profile.htm

"Max Lucado has more than 50 million books in print and a publishing career that has spanned nearly 25 years.
